Wow, I want to start by saying I'm sorry. It has been a little crazy around here. I had the pleasure of going to the ATG Expo in Waco a couple of weeks ago, and I had a blast! Sergeant Slaughter was there and I got to meet him. I have to say he was really cool and nice, everything you'd expect. At the show I also debuted the second issue of "The Embassy" and it went really well.
In the last few weeks I've had some time to think about what I'm trying to do and where I want to be. The new study is way behind on schedule and I don't know how to fix it. I'm trying to set up the old one to make it work. The internet is proving problematic. Oh, and the speakers and audio drives are all jacked too. We're getting there though.
This weekend I'm hosting a virtual panel all about how to create comics. We're going to be looking at the whole process. I'll start by going over how to group ideas and get them into a script format. We'll go over how to find an artist and what they do, also look at a letterer. Then the printing/publishing process and how to get it out there. It's free to join, just RSVP to get the link.
Speaking of making comics, tons of exciting news in the world of "The Embassy." Issue 3 is coming along pretty well. It will be the last issue of the first arc, which is going to be collected in a fancy trade. How fancy? Well, it will be in color! The first issue is already done and we are about halfway done coloring the second. It looks beautiful and I can't wait for everyone to see the final product.
I'm hoping to get the next issue of "We the People" out by Halloween. I know it's been a long time, and honestly I didn't know if the project would go anywhere, but the feedback on issue 1 has been great so I want to keep the story going.
Flames has pretty much burnt out, and that's all we're going to say.
On the more traditional side of writing my novella, "Midnight Signs," is still going strong over on Vella. There's about a dozen chapters up there already with more on the way. I realized this is one of the most depressing things I've written but it has been so much fun.
A few major announcements on the kid's book front. I'm working on another Christmas book, I'm just a fan of the season and enjoy celebrating it. This one is going to look at some of the smaller helpers, even smaller than elves, at the North Pole. I also decided to start a chapter book series. It's about a time traveling teddy bear, so that's exciting!
Probably not going to table at any shows in March. It's Spring Break and my oldest's birthday. he's going to be a teenager! That is terrifying. I also do a big crawfish boil every year around that time.
I just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know what to expect. As a bonus here is a 5 page pitch Daniel and I did for Happy Tank. There are some bad words and adult situations. If you like it let me know and we might just self publish it.
Let me know!
Until next time,
Lance!
